A special cookie for a special family

Unicorn cookie design layout

I LOVE creating and designing unique designs! I also love when our customers have an idea of what they would like us to design. It is such a privilege to be apart of their special occasion. This cookie was designed as a special gift to a family who was going through an extremely hard time. I didn’t want to replicate their beautiful logo that represented so much but instead offered my spin on the design.

Unicorn cookie initial sketch

I used my unicorn cookie cutter and flipped the cut out dough to replicate the same unicorn profile. Next I sketched out the design with a pen and paper and planned where I would pipe each colour.

Piping the icing on the unicorn cookie

My sketches often involve tweaking. Here I had sketched a unicorn ear (as our cutter did not include one), but decided to not include it on the finished cookie after all. Then I matched the colours and mixed my special lemon flavoured Royal icing. The last step, before piping the glorious liquid that is Royal icing, is to briefly sketch our lines on to the cookie (using the pointy scribe tool). Ta dah! The finished cookie! I hope this special family enjoys every bite!
